Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences

Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS) was planned on the lines of AIIMS, New Delhi in 1986. Sri NT Rama Rao, the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh laid the foundation stone of Institute on 18 April 1986 The Institute started functioning from 26 Feb 1993, later, in 1995 got the University status. The health services of SVIMS covers whole of Andhra Pradesh.

The major objectives of SVIMS include service, training and education in advanced medical sciences and technology. Latest technology in diagnostic wing and total computer automation of patient care has been put into practice for the first time in our Country in this institution. The computer center is equipped with medical literature analysis and retrieval system on line (MEDLINE). SVIMS introduced "MEDLARS" awareness program, which is a fortunate thing for all the students and medical personnel.
